Assigning an IP Address with Netgear Router.

My router isn't assigning my xbox an IP address, and doesn't connect when I try to plug in with an Ethernet cable.   My home network shows up when I get on my Xbox and it says connected, but when I test connection it doesn't go through.  On 'Configure Network' it shows my Network Name, Type, and my Wireless Security.

Ip Settings are automatic, but the IP Address is, so are the Subnet Mask and the Gateway, AND the DNS Settings and all that jazz.

When I go to my router's web address (my router is a Netgear WNR2000v2), under 'Attached Devices' it shows my xbox's MAC address, but not the device name or IP address.

Very odd, can you reset your Xbox network settings to factory defaults and then change nothing else. If that doesn't help what happens if you connect the Xbox direct to your modem? Same issue?

Did this solve your problem?

Sorry this didn't help.

Great! Thanks for marking this as the answer.
