After failed update, cannot connect to x-box live

Our Xbox 360 S 4GB recently received an update that failed to install.  I do not know what the update was for.  Since this, our Xbox can connect to our network and the internet but, cannot connect to xbox live.  We have exhausted all the steps provided by the troubleshooting web pages.  This Xbox does have about a month left on warranty but, to me, this seems to be more likely a software issue than a hardware issue.  Specific info about our Xbox and network is below.  Thanks for any help
