Adding months onto account..

I have an xbox live gold membership and its about to expire in a few days. I've had issues with my credit card getting stolen when i had auto-renew on so I was not about to go through that again. I went to a store and purchased a 12 month membership, assuming i can add these onto my account. However when i enter the code via my xbox it first pops up to a screen that says, "This code give you the following new membership...." and I am able to select "Redeem Now." After selecting that I receive a message that says, "You can't buy this membership while your current xbox live membership type remains active." So do I have to wait until my account expires? Was this not the way to go for renewing my account and not wanting my credit card to be stolen again?

well for one thing

creditcards cannot be stolen from an account as it is a series of *s niot actual numbers that noone can read

this isn't PSN

one question are you on the entertainment for all contract?

you do relieze that you are legally obligated to stay for the 2 years? with Early termination fees if you choose to cancel

prepaid cards do not replace the contract terms

Have you checked all the info, payment acct + other is current, at http://commerce.microsoft.com ?

If so, suggest you contact a Billing Agent. You can choose Option 1 after finding your country's support line: See http://tinyurl.com/XBLnumbers ...

but a faster way to speak to an Agent is to go to http://xbox.com - sign in there if you can - then go to http://support.xbox.com/contact-us?xr=footnav#0:2:5

Click on Request A Call and type in a few lines explaining your issue and you will get called back quicker than if you waited in queue on hold.

it cannot be read

if there was MS points purchases then it would be on your account

since they were zune i gather it was someone on your console which means you need to start puting a passcode on your profile

start by clicking require password everytime you login

if it is a matter of someone making purchases on your console

forums.xbox.com/.../364085.aspx

it is time to start practicing safe computing

dont use shared passwords among websites

people dont think this is a big deal but it is

once one password is compromised all your social sites are compromised if you use a common password among all your accounts

dont use the same login

the number one thing that anonymous did when they stole the PSN database

they sold the database and then told their users to use the password and email combos on all sites

thats not stealing your creditcard

if it remains on your console it is better to not allow unsupervised access

ms points nor zune points are transable

if you want call support and open an unauthorized access case if you fee your profile has been compromised

that should've been the first thing you done

worst case call up support and ask for a check on whatever accounts are using your creditcard

they wont give you the private info but if your brother borrowed your creditcard you'll know about it

Your SVC code which is what is needed to add to any account is never stored anywhere

someone would have to have physical access to your card for that

access to your account then safe computing practices are good

I am not on that contract. I am on a 12 month gold membership.

And about a year ago my credit card was pulled from my xbox and multiple charges were made purchasing Microsoft and Zune points so please don't tell me my credit card cant be accessed. It has happened before. And it happens to A LOT of people.

Just stop, ngocphi. No one else accesses my Xbox. And Microsoft reimbursed me for all the false charges. It all happened literally two days after entering my credit card on my xbox in order to buy Microsoft points. It's okay man. Thanks for attempting to help though. "A" for effort.

then start practicing safe computing practices

phishers will use people who share the same password as other accounts

this has been proven time and time again with psn and facebook and yahoo

people use the simpliest and phishers will tel others to test the poasswords on social sites

when one site gets compromised do you really want all your banking your paypal account etc compromised>?

phishers do not need access to your xbox

they redownload your profile

(if it was a year ago you would notice when you had to recover your gamertag)

this is why you should enforce the policy require a password everytime you login

change your password every 6months

MS allows you to even enforce that by requiring a new password every 72days if you click yes

there are alot of safe computing steps

if you do not practice them you can't protect yourself

i change my passwords every 6months

i also use a unique password for everysite and withy mixed numbers and caps

in the years i had been on the net 1995 i never been compromised in any service except for yahoo and PSN
