Adapter goes red and Xbox goes off.

Hi, first off, I want to discuss a problem with my adapter.. I don't know if that's what it's called, but it looks like this: . And when I start my Xbox, I play on it for a while, and it shuts off and that things goes red. And it's really hot when I touch it as well as the Xbox. Then, I move that thing and the Xbox over the air conditioner while the air is on, and it still shuts off. I don't know what the problem is. Any help?

That is your Xbox 360 Power Supply.

Under Normal Operation the light will be a Solid Green or a Solid Orange. Whenever it is Flashing Orange, Solid Red, or No Light while plugged in, your power supply may need to be replaced. Let's try these solutions first:

  1. Move the unit to a different outlet and try and run the Xbox again.
  2. Allow it to cool for 30 minutes and try again.

Unfortunately, in your case, #2 does not sound like an option, as you have moved the unit over an AC unit to cool. Use this link to order a replacement Power Supply Unit: https://myservice.xbox.com/en-us/pages/Profileregistration.aspx?useraction=Requestarepair

Console registration is required to replace the power supply under warranty (the power supply warranty is the same as your console warranty).

Hope that helps.

What model Xbox is it? The old models had this issue but the new Xbox slim doesn't have it. I would guess that it's malfunctioning and buying a new one.
