Account Upgrade - Not working?

Whenever I try to upgrade from Silver to Gold I get an error message stating 'you found a glitch in the system'. 

What gives?

You can also try to buy the Gold subscription through the Xbox dashboard.

If that doesn't work, you can phone Xbox Support and they will happily do it for you.
