Account Error 801540FA and Credit Card problem

Good evening.

I'm having these 2 problems:

  1. Error 801540FA; - I have this problem everytime I try either to download a free app like Netflix or download a free DLC like the one I need to play GTA V online.
  2. Credit Card info couldn't be retrieved. - I'm having this problem when trying to enter in My Payment Method in my Xbox 360, in Configurations.
I'm Brazilian and my credit card is international. I buy stuff online in dollars all the time, so I guess that's not the problem.
I just checked and all my Credit Card informations are correct and I have credit in it.
I'm in 30 day free Gold sub.
I THINK the problem might be related to the fact that I changed my account's e-mail address last year.

SYXUS, hello there. Have you tried phoning your bank and seeing if they are blocking xbox from retrieving the information?

I know some banks often block Microsoft from taking payments as they can flag up as a "un-known 3rd party" contact your bank and then try again.

If it fails again, simple post it here and someone will help.

I don't think that would be the problem.

I had no problem buying from anywhere else.

Still, it's worth a try :D

I just called my bank. They told me they have no problem with Microsoft and my credit card should be working normally.

They told me they might have some problems with USD purchases, but Xbox Live here in Brazil charges in BRL and still I can't even access my payment method. It seems they can't reach my credit card information at all.

But thanks a lot for trying to solve my problem! :)

Okay, I tried to call sometimes and, by the third time, a man told me that the service is not working correctly since monday and that the problem is not with my account. However, as I said before I changed my account e-mail but when I log in on my xbox 360 on the upper left side where my Gamertag is shown, the e-mail that shows up is the old one, even thought everywhere else shows my new e-mail. Could that be a problem?

It can take up to a year for a new email to sync, I got hacked and was given a new email by MS that I still havent changed (and a 1200 Card to change my name back :) ) But i dont believe its an issue as far as billing goes. You might want to delete the option altogether and put it back on your account. It MIGHT be linked to that old email, then you delete and add it back it gets put on the new one (?) Keep us updated.

I didn't know that DGYT. I registered my credit card after making the e-mail change. But thanks for coming forward with your experience.

I guess I'll just wait until the Xbox Live problem is solved and check again to see if that was the only problem or my account is really messed up! As soon as I get that answer, I'll post here! :D

I got the same problem, and i dont even have a credit card.

Always used prepaid cards for MS points.

I also changed my e-mail so i think thats the problem.

I just cant get it fixed.

I'm having the same problem. I noticed that all exchanged the Microsoft account. Sera that if we delete the old account. Solucionara the problem?

I deleted my old account. Alias this marked the closure of her for the next day 11/8/2014
