Account Email does not exist anymore.

Hello, I have a friend who cannot change his live ID because he used a @city.k12.state email, which is for a government job. Now since the email doesn't work, he cannot change his ID because the email doesn't exist anymore. Any ideas on how to change this? Account is [REMOVED - DO NOT POST OTHER GTS]

Have him call XBox Support and if he can verify some information for them then they should be able to help him with this issue.

The US number is 1 (800) 4MY-XBOX

If your friend still has the registered email address and password used, can he log into live still?

If so you can change settings on account.live.com

Here is the section on Support about switching Windows Live IDs and ganertags between them, it is near the bottom but worth reading through from top.

support.xbox.com/.../manage-live-id

He can log in because he hasn't changed his xbox, he can't use the email to log into the website or anything because it doesn't exist. Pretty much he only has an account, there is no data for it.

1) Ask him to go to http://www.outlook.com, click on Sign Up or Sign Up Now to make a new Microsoft Account

2) Ask him to go to http://Account.Live.Com and click on Edit Security Info below to fill in the missing proofs. He should have  a) a cellphone number under Phone Numbers  b) a different email under Alternate Email  c) a Security Question

3) Then, while signed in with that new Microsoft Account, go to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?Linkid=242792 and send a request to Microsoft Account Customer Support for a password reset so he can change his proofs.

The email, right now, is just a fancy username. He can still use it to log in, even if it does not exisit. If he does not know, or cannot reset his password, Vibroplex's solution may be his best bet.

I had the same problem, but just fixed it.

1.Sign into your xbox live account

2.Click your icon and select "Xbox settings"

3.Click "Security, family & forums"

4. Then on the left, find and select "Contact Preferences"

5. Change your email that will change on your xbox and hit the save button.

Hope this helps.
