AC Adapter question

Long story short, I accidentally plugged in a 110 volts AC adapter to a 220 volts outlet.

Then it goes *boom* (not an explosion, just a sound it maked when it plugged it in)

Does the device immediately get broken? Or is it still barely usable?

(I didn't plug it in all the way fully, if that matters)

Well only way to know if it still works is to try it out. Most of the time if its just for a sec it should still be fine. If it was for a long period of time then it might break since it would overheat.
