A series of errors, password changes, and more.

Recently i have been having MANY problems with connecting to xbox live. At first, i could bypass them over time by following the rules on this very forum. But just a little earlier today, i had been playing Assassins Creed 2 over Xbox Live, and was talking to a few friends in a party. I than turned off the console, and went out to go and buy Assassins Creed 4: Black Flag. A few hours later, i get back and attempt to sign into xbox live. At first, the loading screen takes ages in trying to get me to the dashboard. When it finally signs me in, im not connected to Xbox live for some reason. It wasnt really that much of a surprise since i had been having a few issues like that in the past weeks, but when i tried to sign in, it took forever between loading screens, and when it finally did put me back into live, it simply signed me back out, and an Error message stating that my xbox could not connect to Xbox live and that i should test the connection, along with a bunch of other stuff, and the error code 80151911. I tested the connection a number of times, and each time it was perfectly fine. I attempted to sign out, and sign back in, and still the loading screens were long, and the same error appeared. I tried to clear my content cache, and than tried everything again, and still the same problems. I looked up information on the error code, as well as a few other things. One of the posts suggested that i delete my profile, and re-download it, which i had done in the past due to a similar issue, (Apparently that time, my profile had been corrupted) however when i went to delete the profile, it stuck on the deletion screen for a while, and than an error appeared saying that The Xbox could not complete that action, and my profile remained. i deleted a few of the other older profiles i had whenever guests were over, and that worked just fine. So, i tried numerous times, and the same error appeared, even after i singed out of the profile. I looked through my storage for any corrupt data and i found two corrupt avatar items, which i promptly deleted. Hoping that was the problem, i repeated the process, and yet again the same error appeared. I had read something on the forum about turning off the auto sign in, so i did, and than attempted to delete and re-download my profile. It was to no avail, cause the same error popped up. And the loading dashboard loading screens are still terribly long. For Crust's sake, i even tried turning it off and on again, numerous times!!! I also read that my hard drive might be dying, which is understandable since my xbox has been with me since 2007, and its only 60 GB and it had been working flawlessly up until the beginning of this year. and even then, the problems were miniscule. it wasnt until a month or so ago, where my first major account problem happened, forcing me to clear my cache (which didnt help, in the end i had to do something else, which i dont remember) and having to sign in again. And than a week later my profile was corrupted and i had to delete it and re-download it. Towards the next few weeks, it was still asking me to set up a back up email, which i simply ignored, and now regret ignoring, since a day came to where my xbox was not letting me sign in at all, because my account was being accessed by somewhere else, and that it might have been compromised, forcing me to change my password. That was a week ago, and now This! i am becoming extremely frustrated with my xbox, and seriously freaked out and worried whenever my xbox takes a little to long to load, or when a new update is available. I've never been so stressed out about something so simple, because i do not want to worry about buying a new hard drive and transferring memory, nor do i want to create a new account, for fear of losing all the friends that i have made. Please help, i can't take much more of this. i have not been able to log into xbox live ever since i tried playing it earlier. And i seriously want to get back to my friends on there! please, i haven't even played Black Flag yet, and i honestly just want to play with my friends again...

I'm also having a very similar problem but I'm too scared to do anything because when I look around on the forum with people who try to fix the problem I have they run into nothing but more problems and it makes me nervous

Alright thanks. I'll try this soon, I'll get back to you as soon as I have the results!

In the meantime, I tried turning on my xbox without the hard drive attached, and it booted up the dashboard like normal. Any idea to what that might mean? Seriously though, sorry for any trouble I might be causing you.

Hi Assault,

Not sure why that would be. As for minimum requirements, here you go:

  • A minimum of 1 GB storage capacity.
  • Formatted with the Windows FAT32 file system. Macintosh or Linux formats do not work.

Not a solution, just trying to format that wall of text in a way that might be readable for others to help you.

Let's hold off on formatting your HDD until you've tried some other stuff, marine. We'll get you sorted out though! First off, do you have a USB flash drive handy? Let's make sure it's formatted properly and then try the following steps:

This should all be done while the hard drive is removed from the console. If you're able to get through those steps, then re-attach the hard drive and start up the console again, see if it continues to move slowly. If you aren't able to complete those steps, let us know what happens when you try!
