You should check service status, often times it is a short outage.  support.xbox.com/.../xbox-live-status for the UK.  This page support.xbox.com/.../error-code-04-800705b4 might be helpful as well.  I hope it works out for you.  A final thing you might try is deleting your profile and redownloading it.
