6000MS points tried to charge to my account - am I being hacked or scammed?

Hi guys,

I received an email saying Microsoft was unable to charge my credit card for 6000 MS Points. I didnt order any at all. It gave me a link to follow - which I did not use - and it all looked very official. The email came from *** Email address is removed for privacy ***. I am 99% sure that this is a fake scam email but I was hoping someone could tell me if they have had the same?

I haven't ordered points in a while, I usually use the vouchers from shops but I think the usual email comes from an xbox.com email address but I might be wrong. So has anyone else had this email or has someone tried to hack my account?

Any help will be appreciated.

Checked the account history like you suggested, no sign of any attempts at withdrawing from my account, only my last purchase. I think I'll try and delete all my cards and stick to point scratch cards instead as a safety plan. Thanks for your answers though guys, reassures me a little to know I'm not the only one experiencing it.

It looks like someone had attempted to purchase points on your Xbox Live Account, it's worth calling support to see if they see any fail transactions, and I might change you password, and change the security options on your WLID, go to accounts.live.com for that

Yes, due to the auto-renew which, by the way, will never be used again.

Same thing happened to me today. Someone used my account to buy 6000 then 4000 pts. This is seriously screwed up, never though Microsoft would be hacked like Playstation. Garbage...they better get this straightened out.

Hmm, I checked on Xbox to see if there were any Service alerts. The alerts were about Clearing Cache System problems and Deal of the Week problems.

I am sure Xbox is not being hacked, since the Community would be aware of this already. Did you guys have Credit Cards on your accounts?
