4K support day one

Hi,

anyone know if output of 4K supported on day one? Or will it come as part of a future update?

I have a 4k TV, and I have connected my Xbox one hdmi out , via high speed hdmi cable, to my Bravia 4k TV.. However in the Xbox one settings - 'display' screen it only shows  TV  output of 720p &1080p

How do I know if the xb1 is outputing 4k?

Hi, during an interview Larry Hryb confirmed the One does support 4k resolution, however I don't believe this is implemented yet.

hey larry, will there be any support for 3d or 4k?

Major Nelson (Larry Hryb): Indeed. Xbox One supports BOTH 3-D and 4K.

I suspect these features will be implemented in a future update.

The Xbox One does support 4K, but I don't see it ever being enabled. The console may not even be able to run games at that resolution, plus games aren't even being developed for 4K on the consoles. It's not just the Xbox One either, I don't think the hardware good enough yet to support 4K truly.

While gaming would be nice, I don't think it'll happen this generation.  However, my interest lies in streaming of media. Netflix has a library of 4K titles and that list is growing.  So my hope is that the Xbox gets an update to be able to stream media content, like from Netflix. My fingers are crossed!

The Xbox One isn't a gaming powerhouse... We won't even get 1440 out of it, let alone 4k for gaming.

Streaming though, I'm not sure why there's a hold up on that. Isn't this supposed to be THE home entertainment system? How is that possible when it can't even keep up with current resolutions?

I just recently purchased an LG 49" 4k. The visuals on it are amazing and it does definitely upscale the resolution on both my games and Netflix or any other movie I put in on my bluray the difference is very clear. Recently I have been playing Rise of the Tomb Raider which is gorgeous. Of course that is only when i am not running around having fun. Because when you move around because of the lack of 4k support you can see a short delay in the graphics its not as smooth to enjoy the action of the game. 4k output support would really be very much appreciated at this point now that the games are starting to run natively 1080p (mostly exclusives). If it can be available before quantum break and the division it will be supper awesome!
