My brick was replaced under warranty, now the fan is noisy again a year later. So, this time I took it apart and it's a cheap crap fan with no bearings and it looks as if the metal spindle hole wears out and allows it to wobble and hit the covers. Or the magnets get weak and it gets out of balance. Regardless, it's a cheap fan that simply needs to be replaced........... BUT NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Microsoft will NOT send you a replacement fan, nor will they direct you to where you can buy a fan. It connects via a 2 prong connector, that's it. They ask you to spend at least $35 to replace the whole power adapter. This is a SCAM that nobody has addressed. Talk about a CLASS ACTION SUIT waiting to happen. If anyone has a source for a replacement fan, that would be great. I know some people cut the box and add a computer fan on the outside, but I simply want the replacement fan that plugs in.
