360 S froze during installation of system update.

Not sure much can be done with this but I figured I wold give this a shot.

Turned on my 360 s for the first time in a bit to be met by a required system update. I accepted, it downloaded, and at about 95% during installation the system froze.

After about an hour of inactivity and no error code, against my better judgement, and without any other choice, I powered down the console.

Upon restarting, I have no audio or video, no controller sync, wireless or wired, and only the dead center green dot is illuminated.

Power brick is orange until the system is powered and then green once on.

I have ripped the update to a CD. Nothing.  I have put the update onto a flash drive. Nothing. I have pulled the power with the disc tray open, partially closed it and restarted. Nothing.

The condition with no audio or video persists with either HDMI or analog connections.

I have tried all above steps with and without the hard drive installed.

If anyone has a suggestion other than call Microsoft, I'd be appreciate it, and gladly give it a try.

I should also note that this 360 s has not been modified in any way.

Needless to say I am less than happy about this as a required system update has more or less bricked my console. The idea spending a penny to remedy this issue is maddening.

Thanks in advance for any help!

i would have a look at the cables again.  blow all the connections make sure the drives are plugged in correctly.  failing that , you may have to bite the bullet and send for a repair.

No particular reason other than the inconvenience and that I prefer to fix things myself.  It just kills me that something in their update bricked the system and i'm likely going to be asked to pay for repair.

Cables are all fine. Checked both HDMI and analog as stated above.  I feel like the only prayer was the update installing from either flash drive or disk and neither has worked.

I thank you for attempting to help.

No controller sync. As stated above I even tried a wired official xbox controller. I was hoping I'd be able to do the update blind if I could get a controller to work.  However, my Harmony remote controls my 360 without sync, including ABXY and although it powers on and off the 360 presently, it does nothing else.

Hi,

The first thing I would try is resetting the display settings, power the console on using the guide button on a controller, as the console boots up press and hold Y and the right trigger, however you say you aren't able to use your controllers so I guess that's a no go.

-

No guarantee this will work but it has in some cases....

-

Try holding the sync button in on the front of your console, power the console on and keep the sync button held down until the console boots to the dash, if indeed it does then you should be able to make some progress towards deleting the update and using either a USB stick or cd to update your console.

Bananas !!
