360 s and external hard drive

I'm curious if I can connect an external hard drive to watch videos off of it. I'm not here to ask about the xbox configuration of the maximum 16 gb to save games, profiles, etc. but just to use it for media purposes only. I'm also fully aware that the hard drive needs to be FAT32.

Any external drive will be formatted to a maximum of 16 gbs and used as a flash drive so this would be a bad idea for you.  Your best bet would be to install Tversity to your computer.  The program will stream music/photos/video through the xbox to the tv.

Playback is from the video section of the dashboard, not under System Settings, Memory.

You may need the Optional Media Update. You can find it in the Marketplace in the Games section under O.
