2ed 360 purchase HD question

My family has a 4GB 360 from last Christmas. We ran out of space so I got a 250GB drive. Now I'm getting my own 11/14/11. Question is can I move the hard drive with no problem or would I first need to reformat it? I bought a few games from the market also would that follow with me on the new 360?

You can move the hard drive no problem.

Anything you purchased is tied to your gamertag so it would follow you. You will have to do a license transfer though to move the console license to your new console so you can play offline.

Wihle you can move the HDD to the new console:

  • Any games you installed from DVD will need to be deleted and reinstalled
  • All Marketplace content will be unusable when offline. To move the console licenses to the new console, follow the steps on the License Transfer page.

Your profile and most save game files should still work with the new console. Some developers bind specific profile/game data to a specific console and storage device (Turn 10, Mass Effect series).
