2 children and 1 gold membership

I bought an x-box yesterday with gold live membership. Do  I need a family membership for 2 children to play  and have their own profiles? I know the 2nd child can play  as a guest but he wants his own account. The guy in the shop didn't mention this despite knowing there are 2 children. Thanks

If they are to have separate profiles yes.  Your best bet might be to go with the Family Pack as it costs less than two Gold memberships, and, it allows for four Gold profiles.  www.xbox.com/.../FamilyPackFAQ

Also, I wanted to mention to you that the Family Pack is a great option as it allows you to keep track of what your kids are doing online and you can also give them MS Point "allowances" to purchase items themselves.

The salesperson may not have considered that you would need multiple memberships depending upon the ages of your children.  You can still create a 'free' personal profile for the second child.  Check out this link for LIVE Options and select the one that works for your family.
