Without knowing the exact Make/Model of the TV, its hard to say.

There are a few things you can try though

A) Go to Settings -> Console Settings -> Display -> Display Discovery -> Disable -> Let the XBOX Restart -> Go back to Display Settings and change the settings appropriately [Sometimes a TV will send the wrong details about itself back to the XBOX causing it to not allow a full 1080p push]

B) Plug the XBOX into another TV that supports 1080p using the HDMI cord and see if it works then. If it does, it tells you that it has something to do w/ the TV [Weather it be the solution I said above or something else]

i apologize for taking so long to answer. its a vizio tv but i am positive its 1080p capable. i know the component cable will push out 1080p regardless, but i will try tonight & see if it changes
