1080p display?

My xbox 360 plays 1080p just fine on my tv, but my xbox one seems to be unable to use 1080p and im stuck with 720. whenever I switch to 1080p my tv goes blank and just says mode not supported. I dont understand why this is happening, any ideas?

Hi Bill4651, what is the make/model of your TV? Is it 1080p capable and have you used other devices outputting 1080p to the TV?

Well as I said my xbox 360 runs 1080p just fine, but for some reason it doesnt seem to work on the xbox one. It is indeed 1080p capable, and it is a Dynex LCD TV model # DX-LCD19-09

I feel like an idiot, I looked up the TV itself; and it is only a 720, but i'm also confused as to why the xbox 360 let me run it on 1080p.

360 probably just 'unscaled'... at 19" you'll never see the difference, it would only become noticeable on larger screens like 42" and up (and when sitting close to the screen).

Well in any case, I gotcha. Thanks. I do have one other question, I have a computer monitor that is indeed 1080p capable, but has no HDMI port, is there any kind of cord I could buy that would connect the xbox one to the monitor?
