You cannot play online multiplayer because of how your account is set up

I want to play minecraft realms on a friends world on my phone but for some reason it wont let me play. I've played multiplayer before but only on LAN. I have searched for hours to figure out how to fix this.

I have tried going to that website but it just sends me to the parental control for a child's account. I am in charge of my own account and not a child so why can't I control if I can play multiplayer?

I'm getting frustrated and this is ruining friend game time. Any help would be appreciated.

I found an old conversation from last year on the forums and another person had the same problem with Minecraft, I copied what one person response was so try and do what they did.

Try updating your account's privacy settings:

1. Go to Xbox.com and sign in with your Microsoft account.
2. Click the Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety tab.
3. Change all settings to Allow.

Ok so quickest way that I have found to get to where you are wanting to go is this: (this will be done on a mobile device per your screenshots.

1. Load up a web browser.

2. Sign into the adult account attached to the child's account at support.xbox.com

3. Tapon the profile picture in upper right corner. (maybe a circle with a outline in it or a picture).

4. Tap Click on 3 dots in bottom right of box that pops up that shows gamertag and email address.

5. Tap on xbox settings on box that pops up.

6. There should be a choice on that next page that says Privacy & online safety (Tap on that )

7. You should see your xbox gamertag and anyone that is in your family if you tap on the gamertag/Pic of the one that you want to change.

You should then see underneath this different choices that you can make to allow different things for whichever profile you have selected.

I have this exact same issue and what he means is that whenever he attempts to use the link provided on the support page to go to the xbox website it redirects him right back to the same exact support page again. Another thing he added on to is while on the actual xbox website the “sign in” button on the top right doesn’t work and will just highlight the box but will not redirect you to the sign in page for the website, just leaving you with an outlined/highlighted sign in as you frustratedly tap the sign in questioning why it won’t let you leave the home page of the website.

Wanted to share how I got iPads and Nintendo switch to play together. Key was to install xbox app onto the ipads. This then broadcasts their online presence to xbox.. which apparently the switch version for online connects through. games will show up as LAN on ipad if running from switch (in online mode). And if came is on ipad, it will show up as online game on switch, even though its LAN...
