Xbox Series X Stuck at 640x480 resolution under settings

I have a new Xbox series X connected to the LG CX television using the HDMI cord provided with the console, but at times when I turn it on, I find the resolution stuck at 640x480. Sometimes a power cycle fixes it and sometimes it doesn't and I need to perform a hard reset. It is very time consuming to do a hard reset or power cycle almost every time I would like to use the system. Is there some fix to this problem or anyone else experiencing this?

Almost same problem for me...

did you try to set your xbox in energy saving mode? For me this option solve that problem at 99%. I think thanks to a complete shutdown of xbox.

now i'm trying also to set 60hz istead of 120hz with no energy saving mode just to check if the problem can be the high refresh rate.

I notice also that this problem appears frequently when I switch on the tv on hdmi input before turning on the xbox.

does your hdmi cable original (microsoft)?

Thanks for your reply. I have the xbox setup in energy saving mode and have it set at 120 hz.

I do notice the problem as well when I turn on the tv before the xbox. Very strange. I am using the original cable from the series x.

I would say the problem comes up 50% of the time and I have to restart ot multiple times to fix.

LG GX. The difference is only the form factor (gallery design).

I think we may have defective units. I have connected a different xbox series x to the same television and no longer have the error.

Make sure on the lg settings under hdmi that 2.1 is enabled and always use the labeled 1 hdmi slot. Check tv firmware then to xbox display settings use auto detect always enable all the modes except for variable refresh rate unless your bout play a game cuz when u enable it your tv is gonna change over to a preset game mode pic settings n if that's not fixing it then tv is messed up or u have the settings on wrong

The settings on LG TV are:

deep color - ON

vrr - OFF (if i switch on vrr on tv the xbox cannot use dolby vision)

game mode - ON

Now as you suggested I move from hdmi 2 to hdmi 1. Yesterday all went fine, but the problem is very random and can appear one time for a week or three times in one day.

For now thank you for the suggestion. I will come back on this post if the problem was solved by changing the hdmi input.
