Hi,
I have some questions for you.
What is the make and model of your monitor?
Do you currently own an Xbox One? If so, which console?

Hi,
Do you have problems with getting your Xbox to use your display's 1440P resolution and 120Hz on this monitor?
Your monitor has a note in the manual that says:
* When HDMI Compatibility Mode is on, 2560 x 1440 @ 120/144Hz resolution is not supported.
I would assume you should be able to get 120Hz at 1440P with this monitor connected to a Series X. But, as you've probably seen, the Xbox One can be really picky when it comes to monitors.
Monitor interest has gone up considerably since Microsoft released support for both 120Hz and FreeSync. The problem is getting a monitor that will use these features correctly over HDMI.

Hi,
For future reference if you need to ask a question, even if it's the same one as the OP, you should really create your own post.
Your monitor, the BenQ XL2720Z doesn't support 120Hz over HDMI. This refresh rate is only available on Display Port. Unfortunately Display Port is not supported or compatible on Xbox One.
The below image is taken from the supported resolutions document for your display.
The Red numbers I've circled are resolutions and refresh rates that are only supported via Display Port. As you can see in the blue circled part of the table there is no 'v' marker in the last box. This box is for HDMI.
This means that this monitor does not support those refresh rates over HDMI unfortunately.
Also this is a G-Sync monitor. These monitors are meant for gaming PC's with compatible hardware. The G-Sync chip in the display is quite an expensive component, a component you can't utilise unless you also own a high end gaming PC.

It would depend on the monitor. The Asus vg27aq Is good for this because it allows 120hz over HDMI with freesync. Some monitors don't support over 60hz over HDMI you need to double-check to make sure.
Use this website https://www.amd.com/en/products/freesync-monitors It shows you which monitors can be used and at what frequencies over HDMI.
