Xbox One lan port detected as 10Mbps

Hello, I have a problem with my Xbox One. For the last several months my download speeds through LAN have been very low compared to my internet connection. I have a 200Mb/s contract which usually gets around 170 when tested on my devices, so pretty good. The problem is that my Xbox One gets only around 8Mb/s in download/upload and ridicoulous pings like 300+ when checking detailed network informations. I didn't care too much about it because I didn't play a lot of online games this year, so I didn't look too much into the issue, but now I want to play some Halo. I looked further into the matter and found out through my modem page that the Xbox One LAN port gets recognised as a 10Mbps port, thus the slow connection I guess. I have no idea why this happens or how to fix it.

Additional info:
Wifi speed is fine, just can't use that to play cause it's unstable
No other gaming console/device in the house has the same issue
The same cable connected to my PC gets normal speed/LAN port recognition
Yes, I did the port forwarding thing even though my NAT was open already
Whatever you're thinking about turning on/off again, soft resetting, any hardware, cache clearing, I did it

I don't really know what to do anymore, I'm going crazy. Please help :(

Hi,

You need an ethernet cable CAT 5 (or higher ) between your router and Xbox.

I suggest you to change the actual cable cause its very rare that the network card fails…

You can check this too for more infos > https://support.xbox.com/xbox-one/networking/connection-solution

It is a CAT5E cable, as I said I have no problem whatsoever when I connect the same cable to my PC. I get full speed and normal ping. Sadly that is not the problem :(

Ok so its sounds like an hardware issue on your Xbox network port ( its very rare but can happen…)

So if you are sure that you did all steps from https://support.xbox.com/xbox-one/networking/connection-solution and if the ethernet cable from the console is detected as 1000 Mbps on your router with another device. Go to https://support.microsoft.com/devices , register the serial number of the console (if not done yet) then raise a repair order.

Hello!

I would attempt all the standard troubleshooting to see if there's something common (and simple) that will fix it.

  • Hard reset of the Xbox One
  • Rebooting the modem and any other networking equipment
  • Swapping out the network cable
  • Plugging the cable going into the Xbox it into a different ethernet port on the modem/router

Ok so you have 99.9999 % an hardware issue on your console but to be sure, put the factory state on it ( here is how to > https://support.xbox.com/xbox-one/console/reset-console-to-factory-defaults )

If still not fixed, you have to send your Xbox to the repair center > https://support.microsoft.com/devices
