Hey Scott

Thank you for providing us with that insight.

Yes, the troubleshooter may not be able to replicate the exact scenario you are experiencing but there is a technique that at this point I would recommend we use.

Before that, might also be worth trying a different type of connection, if possible [I.E. using a wired connection vs. a wireless connection].

At this point, what I would have us try would be a soft factory reset

This can be done by following these steps:

  1. Unplug the network cable if you're using a wired network connection.
  2. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
  3. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.
  4. Press and hold the BIND button (located on the left side of the console) and the EJECT button (located on the front of the console), and then press the Xbox button on the console.

Note The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition does not have an EJECT button. On this console you only need to hold the BIND button (steps 5 & 6) and then press the Xbox button .

  1. Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.
  2. Listen for two "power-up" tones a couple of seconds apart.

Note If you don't hear two power-up tones after 15 seconds, it means this failed. Likewise, if you hear any "power-down" chirps, that also means this failed.

  1. You can release the BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.
  2. Select the Reset this console.
  3. On the Reset your console? screen, you'll see three options:
    • Reset and remove everything. This option resets the console to factory settings. All user data, including accounts, saved games, settings, home Xbox associations, and all games and apps will be deleted. You should use this option when selling or gifting the console to someone else. You should only use this option as a last resort in some troubleshooting cases.
    • Reset and keep my games & apps. You should use this option as your primary choice when troubleshooting. It will reset the OS and delete all potentially corrupted data without deleting your games or apps. This will save you from downloading or reinstalling the large game files. In some cases, if a corrupt game file is causing the issue you're troubleshooting, you may have to choose Reset and remove everything, but you should always start with Reset and keep my games & apps and save Reset and remove everything as a last resort.
    • Cancel. To back out of this screen, simply select the Cancel button. No action has been taken at this point. This is a safe exit from this screen.

Here, I would encourage you to use the Reset and keep my games & apps optinon as it should help reduce the time you need to get back to gaming. This will allow you to reset the operating system [OS] of your console and alleviate the issue.

Take in mind that this will remove all accounts on your console so you need to have the email and password of your accounts in-hand.

Additionally, this will remove any Home Xbox associations as well, so just be advised.

Give this a try and let us know your results!

I used to get this problem before I updated my router.

Prior to getting new router I found that if I powered off the console AND the old router then powered router back on and waited till it was fully functional again before turning console back on it would complete update.

The other thing is to use a wired connection to your router instead of WiFi.

Wired is superior and recommended.

I have tried three different Zip programs and it seems that none of them can read the OSU1 zip file, all stating it is not the correct format.

I have found numerous threads of others stating the same thing  - the file that MS offers is corrupt and cannot be opened.

Would you have a link to the OSU1.zip file that I can actually unzip and use?

Thank you, in advance, for any help.

Best,

Bored2018 (Steven)
