Xbox live - turning off recurring billing

I am having problems turning off recurring billing on my xbox live subscription.

everytime i try to turn it off it comes up with the following message:-

‘we ran into an error while disabling recurring billing’

i have been trying to turn off recurring billing for months now and have tried to get in touch but cant get past the virtual assistant. I am getting really frustrated with this.

i would really appreciate any help in resolving this issue.

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing this problem.

If I were you I would try the steps here on our support page entitled How to cancel your Xbox subscription to try and manipulate it through that.

If that doesn't help then it might be best for you to contact Customer Support directly so that we can make sure that your subscriptions ends up the way that you want it to.

Thank your for your reply. I have already tried both your suggestions and i keep getting the error when turning off recurring billing. I also get through to the virtual assistant where it gives me the option to turn off recurring billing and still comes up with the error. I cant get past the virtual assistant to speak to customer service.

Hey BiscuitNickel33,

Let's try to skip the virtual assistant and get you to a phone representative. When you get to the support portal select "Billing" for step 1. When it asks to go through the virtual assistant, select "No Thanks". On step 2 select "Turn off auto renewal for your Xbox subscription".  It should then give you some self-service options that you can skip and eventually you will be asked to request a callback and it will ask you for the desired number to call and the region.

I hope you can get to a live representative that can assist you.

Hello, when you get to the virtual agent, just click where it says "No thanks..." to skip the virtual agent.

Hi, i have tried everything you mentioned to do. But still no luck. 

I get to step 3 ‘cancel auto renewal’ click on cancel and it takes me back to the main subscriptions page which keeps giving me an error when i try to cancel recurring payments. Image

Hey try this Biscuit!

 I recommendContacting Xbox support to speak with a live agent about your account.

On Step 1 select "My account"

On Step 2 select "Error messages and codes"

Skip step 3 and go to step 4 to select "request a call from support"

Thank you for your help, I have managed to get through to microsoft chat several times. Microsoft have tried to cancel my recurring subscription but they can’t either due to the same error I was getting. Apparently this has been escalated to another department and was told someone would contact me. This has been ongoing since October 19th and I am no further forward.
