Xbox gamertag and Fortnite display name

So I listened to loads of faqs already and so I changed my gamertag on my Xbox recently. However when I loaded up Fortnite my display name still appeared as my previous gamertag. From what I had heard the only way to change your fortnite name on Xbox was to change your gamertag. Clearly this didn't work... Someone please explain what happened and how I can fix it!

On fortnite the name can be set as the epic account names. I would suggest checking your epic account name and seeing about changing it to match there.

I thought that whatever your xbox GT is, that's what you have to have as your Fortnite display name. My GT was "CrazyGamer1213" and my display name was also that. However my epic name is "AKAsyk." I obviously made my GT when I was younger so it's a bit cringe. So when I changed my GT to "KARMA," I expected the in-game display name to change- it didn't. Also when I click my home button it says my new GT right, but doesn't in fornite...

Epic games GT and xbox GT are not linked i'm sorry but i found a way how to change your epic games name

  1. Visit your account's ACCOUNT INFO page.
  2. In the box labeled DISPLAY NAME, enter your desired new display name.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click SAVE CHANGES.
