Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 - No Firmware Update on PC

Hello everybody,

I just bought an Xbox Elite 2 Controller for using it at my PC. Unboxing was a great experience and I was really happy with the haptics of this controller.

However, first connecting it over Bluetooth with my PC (like normal Xbox Controller, without a problem) I directly realized something is wrong:

- Button A opens the Game Bar (even in games)

- Most Games do not recognize any Controller, so no Gaming at all.

- xCloud does not recognize the controller

So after a couple of Google pages I am feeling like, I am definitely not alone. This problem is everywhere.

So, here is my question: Any chance Microsoft will address this problem? And „Update it via an Xbox“ is not an option (where even buy a new Xbox in the moment 😁). Or should I just send my nee beautiful controller back?

I believe an update will be made available to address the issue sooner than later, but unfortunately I don't know when that will be. Given how widespread the issue is, it shouldn't be much longer. I can't tell to send it back or not, but I know it is a beautiful piece of equipment

After 11 months you should finally be able to update it. Only required me to submit a bug report up to the devs...

I cannot believe it, but just this morning the Accessories App received an update. I could connect my controller via USB and update its firmware!

First look: Everything (except xCloud) seems to work now.

So install your new firmware! Bit of luck :)

My controller just recv'd an update about a month ago. Just bought a pc and connected controller which works perfectly however I am unable to configure my controller due to the "app not supporting my firmware on my controller"? Im a little confused. It's an xbox elite series 2 controller so how does the app not support it?

I am having similar issues with any game on windows 11 that I do not own through Steam. It appears Valve has built functionality into Steam to get more universal controller support for almost any game. The downside is you cannot leverage this functionality for games you buy on other platforms and specifically Game Pass.
