Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 - Hardware issues

Following the Microsoft press release  14 November 19:

"Update November 14:Following a request for comment alongside our original report, Microsoft has acknowledged issues reported with the Xbox Elite Controller Series 2. The platform holder has launched an investigation with aid from internal engineering teams, providing this statement to Windows Central on the matter:

At Microsoft, we put all of our products through rigorous quality assurance testing. However, like any hardware, there is the possibility that a small percentage of devices may experience issues. We are aware that a small number of users may be experiencing issues with the Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and are actively investigating with our engineering teams. We encourage any customers who experience issues with their hardware to contact Xbox Support."

Have the hardware issues with the controller been addressed by an reversion to the hardware?

What is the way to identify the hardware revision on the controller when making a purchase?

Look forward to a response.

A law firm offered to buy my defective unit, I didn't follow through because my controller miraculously started working after flipping it upside down and rotating the thumbstick 200+ times. If anyone wants to go that route let me know and I'll forward you through, maybe they'll still buy your defective controller.

I have a problem with the Y button, it sticks and is very hard to press. I just sent to the technical service, hopefully it will be fixed, purchased on November 22.

So after months of preparing myself to contact Microsoft, I finally stumbled upon the answer to the problem I had. I tried multiple officially licensed controllers including Elite, Elite Series 2, both xbox wireless adapters for windows... I was at my wits end.

Go to All Settings, search for "Turn Airplane Mode On". If you'll kindly look at the bottom where "Xbox Wireless" is in the off position, turn it on. Now your controllers will pair correctly with the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows.

No. And don't expect Microsoft to fox the problem based on the history.

You can try you luck to buy one, but the likely hood that something will go wrong with the controller is high.

Just to indicate the seriousness of the issue, Chimicles Schwartz Kriner & Donaldson-Smith LLP are investigating a potential class action against Microsoft with the controller issue in the US.

I would not recommend buying an elite controller, save your money towards some games instead.
