Xbox asks me to "Change your install options in Profile" even though I have a lot of space

Hi,

When I click to install most of the games, this message pop up:

But when I check my profile>setting>general , I still have a lot of space

I already tried to change the default storage to D drive and the problem still persist. I got this error for most of the games (not all). But I can install Sea of the Thieves (78GB) which is bigger than 56GB shown in error above.

Carl

Hello, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.
My name is Georges C. welcome to the community.

Hello AzamAzid, have you checked if you have the latest version of Windows installed, at 21H2, because recently came out the latest update to Windows 10 and 11.

See which version of Windows 10 you have

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/see...

Updates often seen as optional, Microsoft released major fixes this week, and make sure you have the Xbox Companion App installed.

If you haven't updated yet, click the link below, update and then make all subsequent security updates.

Download Windows 10

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

Download Windows 11

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

Also make sure all Xbox Apps are up to date in the store.

I began having this same issue within the last week or two.

I have two hard drives with 200+ GB available in the Settings > General

However, I get the "Change your install options" dialog (same as above)

I have:

1. Confirmed I have all Windows updates, including optional ones. The links above in the previous response just Thank me for updating.

Image

2. Confirmed all Apps are updated through Microsoft Store.

3. Gone into the Apps list and both Reset and Repaired Xbox and Gaming Services without change

4. Reinstalled the Xbox app from the Microsoft Store.

However, I continue to get the same pop-up when I attempt to install games.

Any fix to this issue because its the same problem I am having! I have been bounced around from different support channels and calls with no fixes yet.

Nothing like being on a call for 2hrs and having Microsoft support telling me last option is to reinstall windows 10!! Well guess what that did not work either. So another attempt to contact Xbox support today and they bounce me around then disconnect me. I could not understand the caller the accent was thick and i simply had to keep asking het to repeat her self plus I think she might have been working from home because the call was hard to hear with the background noise, Not happy very frustrating knowing that I am paying monthly for the pass but cant use it.

The above issue occurred on a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro.

I was able to "fix" the issue by unenrolling from Xbox Insider Hub's Windows Gaming. I then uninstalled the Xbox app. I restarted my machine. I then re-enrolled back in the Windows Gaming Preview. I reinstalled the Xbox App. I still had the same error, so I unchecked the option to "Ask me for install options on every install." Game Pass Games now install as normal rather than the advanced options under C:\Xbox Games.

Identifying the issue was seeing the option "This game supports advanced management features." on the 7 games that were already installed.

Advanced Installation and Management Features available for Insiders through the Xbox App for Windows - Xbox Wire

In conclusion,

I believe this is some sort of Xbox Insider Hub Preview issue with the Xbox App because the 7 games were installed without the option of C:\Xbox Games that I had prior to reloading Windows 11.

Hello,AzamAzid,

I hope you are doing well today. Welcome to the Xbox Community. Thank you for reaching out to Xbox Forums. I wanted to ask if you are still experiencing this issue where you cannot install games to the main (C:) drive? You mention that you can install Sea of Thieves, are other games installed? What game prompted this issue?

Thanks,
