Xbox 360 error code: 4174 - 417F - 2780 - 1315 - C000 - 0032

My xbox is stuck on this update screen, even when I turn off the internet and console, it keeps going back to this screen. Is there a way to reset the Xbox?

Me too. When I restart the update it sometimes looks like it is good to go then about 1/4 of the way it stops, keeps trying to load and then the error msg comes up. This is [Mod Removed] because you can't go online unless you get the update, but it won't update because of the error!

Hey there everyone,

I'm sorry to hear about the issue you all have been experiencing with the most recent system update. I looked up the error code you received (4174 - 417F - 2780 - 1315 - C000 - 0032) on this support article and it explains that the update could not be downloaded from Xbox Live and offers some troubleshooting steps. Let's try out these steps and see if we can get this situation sorted so you all can get back to using your consoles!

  1. Try installing the update again.
  2. If you’re having problems connecting or staying connected to Xbox Live, see Xbox Live connection problems.

Note: You can also update your console software by copying the update to a USB flash drive or a disc and then applying it to the console. For steps as to how to do this, navigate to our support article on How to get a new Xbox 360 update.

Try out those steps above and let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the reply, tried the USB update. As soon as I turn the xbox 360 on it goes directly to the update screen and then about a quarter of the way through the update I get the error. Nothing has changed

Hey kouwenberg,

I'm sorry to hear about the error code still appearing. I can certainly see how that could be frustrating. I would next suggest trying out these troubleshooting steps:

  • Clear your cache three times.
  • Turn off your Xbox 360 console.
  • Unplug all the cords connected for a few minutes.
  • Plug the cords back in.
  • Insert the USB flash drive and try doing the update once again.

If those steps don't do the trick, burn the new update to a CD or DVD and give that shot. If trying the same steps for the CD/DVD don’t work either, please let us know.

It's happening to me too.   I have to wait through 20 minutes of loading each time to get the error message at the end.   I've done it 4 times now and I'm thinking it's time to give xbox a break.
