X Box Series X Green Screen at Start Up

Hello:

I have been enjoying my X Box series X for about a month now, but this evening after playing Torchlight III for about an hour or so, I left the X Box ON and turned off my controller and watched some TV and did a few other things.  A couple hours later, I came back to it and turned it on again as per usual and got this:

The display is locked in this condition.  When I try to start a game using the iPhone app, it launches (I hear the sound on the TV), but the display is still frozen in this image.

I have seen some comments about some of these events and they tend to indicate the system needs to be sent back.

Please advise.

Scott

I have a similar issue. I've had the Xbox for years. Never had display issues until today (using all the same settings for months)

I tried doing the whole reset thing by pressing all 3 buttons and waiting for sounds and i got this instead...

Tried different cables.tried different inputs. Nothing fixes the pixelated green screen.

I can still use my controller and it sounds like everything but the display is working normally.

While I had previously restarted the X Box and it still produced the green screen after the startup, I powered everything down and let it sit overnight and it has come back to normal.

So for me this was successful, but I'm not sure how it happened nor what I did differently.

Yeah this coincidentally worked for me too. I guess it just wanted the night off.

Yesterday green pixelated screen full of green lines... Today basically normal but blurry.  I had to set the display settings back to 4k.

I’m wondering if you guys left it unplugged or left it still plugged in so maybe it had an update? I’m having this exact issue and am highly angry and sad at the moment

I unplugged it. Let it sit overnight. Problem went away and has not returned.

I suspect it is a bug in the OS and I did not reset it correctly originally.

Do you have a tcl tv? If so unplug the TV, wait 5 seconds, plug back in. Worked for me.

I ran into this issue today. Tried the HDMI cable and port connected to my PS5 and saw the same result. Was going to let my XB rest overnight, so I fired up my PS5 only to have the same issue.

Ended up being my TV. I restarted it in the TV's settings and everything is fine now.

tl;dr - try restarting your TV to see if that fixes the issue.

That’s what fixed the green screen of death for me, just unplugged my vizio tv for a couple of minutes then it worked again! Great tip thanks a lot 😁
