Vizio HDTV says "Not Support!" when I plug in xbox 360 via HDMI

So a few days ago my 22' vizio tv was working fine with my 360 via hdmi, and then one day I used my xbox on my 40'' Sony to have a bigger screen, when I connected my xbox back to my smaller 22'' vizio tv, it went black for a while, then a blue screen comes up saying "Not Support!" and when I connect my xbox back to my sony via HDMI it works fine. I already tried connecting my cable box to my smaller 22'' tv and it also work fine with the same hdmi that i use for my xbox. How can i get my xbox to work back on my smaller 22'' HDTV?!

Hi there loherrera,

Sounds to me that you have changed the resolution when connected the 40" screen that the 22" display doesn't support.  You can try re-setting the display settings when you connect your console back up to the 22" screen.  To do so see below:

1.Remove any discs from the disc tray.
2.Turn off the console.
3.Turn on the console.
Note If you are using an Xbox 360 Wireless Controller, turn on the console by using the Guide button on the controller. Make sure that you use the player 1 controller when you do this. The player 1 controller will have the upper-left light illuminated.

4.As the console starts, on the controller, press and hold X while pulling the right trigger. The display settings are reset to the default settings, and then the console automatically restarts.

Please let us know if that worked for you.  Thanks.

I tried it and it still said "Not Support."  when i plug my xbox to my sony it works fine and when i plug in my cable box and ps3 to my smaller vizio it also works fine and for some reason its just the xbox not working with the vizio and i've already done a powercycle with the vizio tv and still nothing.

Okay, could you provide us with the model numbers for both of those TV's you've been using with your console?  In your console display settings do you have the resolution set to 1080p?  What happens if you set the console to 720p on the Sony and then connect it back to the Vizio?

The guide that Obsessive Power gave is a mostly correct solution. But to my knowledge, to reset the videosettings to default, you press Y and RT instead of X and RT.

So try the instructions from Obsessive Power again:

Turn off console.

On your first controller press Y and RT and keep them held down.

Turn the console on with the Guide button of the controller, and keep Y and RT held down.

Hold Y and RT until (hopefully) the dashboard appears.

The information I posted was a 'copy and paste' from the official troubleshooting guide for this issue.  Unless I've done something wrong in the process.  The guide can be found here.

However, you're welcome to try all suggestions.  My only interest is that you can get this issue corrected quickly.

Heheh, I just visited the page, and the odd thing is, if you go to the "en-US" locale (in the URL), the guide really says "X" and "RT". If you however replace the "en-US" with my German locale "de-DE", it says to press "Y" and "RT".

So please try both options, and use the one that works, until Microsoft makes up their minds ;-)

That's interesting ArminatorX,  I'm from the United Kingdom and my support page says the same thing as the German one (well it did when I translated it).  You're right, on the U.S site it says to hold 'X' rather than 'Y', so indeed try them both, and please let us know if that helped.  Thanks.

Hey there TheDTProject!  OK, following the steps in this post are a good place to start.  Can you make a fresh one though, detailing which errors you see and one which TVs?  We'll be happy to take a look!
