USB flash drive not working with xbox 360

Alright. I have basically lost data for Halo 3 twice now. I need help.

I have an HP 8 GB flash drive (Exact model link below) formatted correctly on a dell PC to the Windows FAT32 file system. I would like it to work on a 4 GB Xbox 360 Slim. The drive seems to meet Microsoft's minimum requirements (Source below). When I configure it under Settings > System > Storage > *My USB Drive*, everything appears to work. It told me the amount of memory I had, and let me see in the different folders contained within. I played Halo 3 for about 3 hours, saving on the USB drive, and nothing seemed wrong. Bedtime came, so I shut the console down. However, as soon as I restart the console the next day, the USB seems to un-configure or something. Any data is unobtainable from the xbox menu. Any games stored on the device do not show up under the games tab.

The files are still there when I connect the USB device to my laptop though! After reformatting, I tried again, but all data was unobtainable as soon as the console shuts off.

I hope I can receive a helpful response. Thanks in advance for all help.

Answer

Yeah , I've had this problem too and unfortunately it was a problem with the hardware in the USB flash drive and the only way I was able to resolve the issue is by getting a new flash drive. Good luck with your issue it can be a very aggrivating one, and also a good way of testing it is to just use a seperate USB Flash drive and repeat the steps save a game, reset your console, then check to see if your savefiles are still their if not then it's possible that you encountered a bug on the Xbox 360 firmware or, more specifically your Xbox 360 console, and I'm not sure if this would be fixable. Besides that if you can't find your answers you could try using the live chat with Xbox live support I'll post a link for that, they are good people very smart and have the resources and the information to give you as much help as possible with your issue.
