Stopping the xbox from turning on with headset

I recently purchased a Steelseries Arctis 9x and I was wanting to connect it to pc with the wireless adapter, but anytime I try to pair it, the xbox turns on and pairs to it because of the feature that allows controllers to power up the console. Is there any way to disable that?

Hi there Mason,

Thanks for reaching out here in Xbox Forums. I understand there is a question with the Xbox One controller turning on the Xbox console. If the controller is synced to the Xbox One console, it will be powered on by design. We recommend to install the driver to the Windows 10 PC.

Give that a try and let us know the results.

Thanks for being a part of the Xbox Family.

DearMason Phillips,

Power off your xbox while connecting to PC

Follow these steps:

  1. Insert the USB dongle into a USB port on your computer.
  2. Turn on your Xbox One controller by pressing the Xbox button.
  3. Press and release the connect buttonon the dongle.
  4. Press and hold the connect button on your controller, and release it when the Xbox button stops flashing.

It works when doing it like that, I dont need a tutorial on how to pair, I want to know if there is a way to disable the console turning on when I turn on the headset. No matter if the console is off, since the headset uses a multifunction button for pairing and power, it turns the xbox on and I dont want that to happen

Hello Mason,

Thanks for the update. There is not really any way to do this. If you use the headset on the console and PC, then it will continue to do this. Since it is also paired with the console. The only way to stop it would be unplug console but that isn't ideal in the situation.

Thanks,

Brad

Hello,
In the console power-up settings you can deactivate the option.
also at the moment when your control is connected wirelessly to your computer you should already have the problem that your console turns on

Have you tried unplugging the xbox completely from the outlet so it has no chance of turning on when trying to pair it to your pc?
