My switch pro controller isn't detected when connected with a wire to my computer

It used to work fine as I could connect the controller to my pc using a wire and it'd work instantly, but since about a week ago now it's in a weird state where windows has it detected but no other 3rd party apps can detect that the controller is connected. The controller does work wired and I've tried updating my drivers (I'm not entirely sure if they're the right ones but I'm at least 90% on it.) I've really been stuck with it, also sorry for the poor wording I'm not too sure what's happening myself and I find it difficult to describe.

Hello,

Have you had windows update recently? You can check the device manager when the controller is plugged in and try updating the drivers for the controller there or try updating your Bluetooth drivers. And can you be clear on what 3rd party apps you are trying to use it on, and which apps does it still work with?

Thank you,

XBF John

sorry for the late reply. I've updated windows to the latest version (for windows 10) and when I check device manager it already says the drivers are up to date when I do it automatically and since it's a Nintendo switch pro controller I'm using I'm not sure where the right drivers would be found for me to do it manually. Also it's not a problem with Bluetooth (that still works fine) it's a problem when I try and use the controller wired, I'm trying to use this on steam which should detect it and it should work. Wired has always worked perfectly as plug in and play before. (The attached picture is the device that pops up when I plug my controller in wired.)Image

Some more screenshots to help are what it displays now in settings Image

compared to what it displayed before in settingsImage

To understand what drivers are needed I would recommend contacting Nintendo Support directly. Any sources that I post may not be accurate however, Nintendo can supply you with the proper drivers, if there are any. I've been checking the forums for this issue and found a number of threads:

I know it may seem silly but, if it was working wired prior and then suddenly stopped working and bluetooth works fine, have you tried a different wire? I only ask because it was not mentioned here, but I'd like to go ahead and make sure that we have that covered. Also I do not know that if Steam is involved, if it has an issue with the controller, can you check and see if it works with games that are not in steam, or use a different launcher?

Thanks,

XBF John

Follow this guide you need steam or a remaping wrapper driver like ds4win

You gotta remember third party controllers like Nintendo or sony don't use native drivers that pcs Mac or Linux recognize you need a wrapper
