**Important**
Worlds you open in the RTX Beta CANNOT be opened in any other version. So back up your worlds. Also it is different to the Nether Beta, the nether Beta is 1.16 and the RTX Beta is 15.0.8.
When does the beta go live?
The beta goes live today (April 16th) at 10 am PT/ 6pm BST.
How do I access the beta?
- Install the Xbox Insider Hub (Its free in the Microsoft Store)
- In the app press "Insider Content"
- Press Minecraft for Windows 10 Beta
- Click Join
- Press Minecraft RTX Beta
- Go to the Microsoft Store and check for updates
Can I access the nether update Beta at the same time as the RTX Beta?
No the RTX beta is build 1.15.0.8 and the nether beta is 1.16.
Can RTX work on all worlds?
No, You can download worlds from the Microsoft Store tagged "RTX" or you can make your own texture pack you can find the guide on how to here aka.ms/RayTracingDocs (Not all worlds and seeds are supported)
How can I turn it on?
You can turn it on in Settings < Advanced Video or use ";" as a hot key
What are the system requirements?
- Windows 10 (Windows Phone, VR and MR devices are not supported)
- Intel Core I5 or better
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 and Higher (You also need to install 455.87 update from GeForce Experience)
- 8GB of RAM
- The newest updates from Windows Update
Does RTX change performance?
Yes the resolution will be locked to 1080p and chunk render distance will be set to 8 by default.
What does the upscaling toggle do?
It boosts frame rates and supports resolution higher than 1080.
Will the RTX update be free?
Yes.
Can I play on realms in the RTX Beta?
No.
Why can I not download the RTX worlds from the Marketplace?
Only players who meet the minimum hardware requirements can download RTX enabled worlds.
My graphics card supports Ray Tracing but is lower than a RTX 1060 Why does it not work?
Because of the technology needed to run ray tracing well in Minecraft there will be no support for NVIDIA cards below a RTX 2060.
