Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Content Manager stuck in download of asobo-aircraft-b787

The installation of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 has got to be the worst ever! Did anyone at Microsoft actually put some thought or test this out before release!??

Its just completely flaky! Crashes, freezes, gets stuck in unending downloads that keep resetting back to restart again...

Got to the opening screen with the aircraft, and then the Content Manager asking for a folder, and started downloading with the heading"

"TO COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR WILL NOW DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL RECOMMENDED CONTENT".

Then there is a down-load progress bar displayed with a total to the right showing 95.15GiB...downloads start, and then it gets stuck in a repeating restart ....when

"Downloading asobo-aircraft-b787-10-0.35.fspackage..."

Gets to download varying amounts of this - from a few percent (as in 1% to 3%, or at times gets to around 27%) and then resets back to 0% and repeats....been doing that for an hour now and the overall download progress is pretty much at zero!

Given all the pre-user testing etc that went into the actual application itself its really a shame as much thought didnt go into the actual installation testing of the product release!

Frustrating as anything - any ideas on what the heck is going on would be appreciated.

Same problem here.

I created a separate folder in drive D: (as I have not enough disk space in C:) but when I start the download, nothing happens there. It seems that it won't download anything.

I already deinstalled the Flight Sim several times and deleted every folder (even in C:../AppData/..), tried to run the Flight Sim as an administrator and let the program in full screen - unfortunately no success :(

I have the steam version.

I have the same problem.

I have do several things to fix whole night but finally I can install by doing following method.

First you need to remove fight simulator completely, and also remove the download folder you specified when it ask to download updates (Its probably in your /AppData/... or other folder you specified)

Then reboot the system ... (to make sure to leftover flight simulator process that lock the temp files and cause error when reinstall)

Then install from the store or steam again. AFTER IT COMPLETE INSTALL, DO NOT LAUNCH YET.

Go to Settings -> Apps, scroll to Microsoft Flight Simulator and move it to the drive that have enough free space.

After finishes. Try launch the Microsoft Flight Simulator, It should start fresh download again.

If you stuck in download loop. Quit it, Go the the  download folder (It will have folder \Official\OneStore inside).

Inside \Official\OneStore folder and remove all files start with filename that cause problems (such as asobo-aircraft-b787-10-0.35.*).

Then reboot system and try launch again.

Having the same issues. Trying this workaround.

When I went to the app settings, the flight simulator app could not be modified, you can only uninstall it.

Anyway, I did everything else and I just launched the game for the first time and I am now at the screen with the blue loading line at the bottom. Usually, I just quit at this point and reload the game to get the content manager but I am going to wait on this screen and see where it goes.

Update: Did not work

OS - Windows 10 version 10.0.19041 Build 19041

Architecture - x64

Memory - 32 GB

Processor - Intel i7-6700 @ 3.40GHz

Mainboard - ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING

Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080Ti

Drive - SATA (configured as RAID 1)

I already tried the suggestions in this thread - nothing worked..

Here you can see what happens after the installation:

1. First I install Flight Simulator in my drive "D:" (where all other Steam-apps are also installed)

2. Then I start the Flight Sim

3. While the game is starting up, the folder "Microsoft Flight Simulator" gets created in C:/../AppData/Roaming/

4. I get the following message in the Content Manager:

5. Because I don't have enough space on C:, I create a new Folder in D: and click on "update".

6. The download "starts", but it tries to download "asobo-aicraft-b787-10-0.1.35.fspackage.." again and again.

7. When I go into my created folder on D:, I can see two new folders "Community" and "Official", which includes the folder "Steam". But I can't see any files in there (hidden items are activated in explorer).

Thank you for your help.
