Metro Exodus won't launch but runs as a Background Process in tasks manager

Installed the game last week, noticed unstable download speeds and it took 5 times longer than usual. Clicked play and nothing. Scoured the internet for solutions. Whenever i found a post that is leading me somewhere a moderator closes it with a message in the lines of "this thread is locked due to it being revived in another post". Really frustrating as there are no links to the "other post". Anyway...

Ended up reinstalling the game. Same unstable download speeds but got it installed for round 2. Same exact problem, doesn't launch BUT I noticed the game runs as a background process in task manager, using a mere 16mb of memory?

Are there still issues with the game months after launch? I can't get it to run. Things I have tried are:

-Updated Windows

-Updated NVidia game drivers

-Disabled Nvidia Overlay

-Disabled Xbox Game Bar (Although this thing magically reincarnates itself after I turned it off and end it as a process in task manager)

-Completely uninstalled MSI Afterburner

-Repaired the Xbox App

-Repaired the game

-Reinstalled the Xbox App

-Reinstalled the Game

Things I can't do as game won't launch:

-Run in safe mode

-Disable Directx12 and run Directx11

Not posting PC specs. My rig is capable of more than what the recommended requirements suggest.

Anything else I could try? Maybe someone has a similar issue. Baffles me why the game runs in the background though.

sorry to hear (another one with Metro problems). The only thing, which was not listed by you is to enabled "Microsoft Content" in the "Account info privacy settings" under "Choose which apps can access your account info".  I have heard this has helped some People.

So hopefully it will help you too and keep us informed

After trying your suggestion I am afraid the problem persists. I have decided to reinstall the game for a 3rd time but I once again see strange downloading speeds. I believe this is the problem. My internet connection is wired and stable in all other apps however I find that on the Xbox app, with Metro Exodus specifically, it jumps all over the place. Its stable for a few seconds and randomly drops to 150kb/s and then back up again.

I believe that somehow during this unstable transfer some files either get damaged or are incomplete. Although I might be wrong too. Still once I get it downloaded I will try again, and also share my findings here.

Upon reinstalling the game a 3rd time the issue continues. Unfortunate really. I don't believe there is a fix for this problem.

Hi again, it is really a pity. Since your problem still doesn't work after all the attempts, and apparently no one here in the forum can offer another solution, I recommend you: "Try it on the developer's Discord server". And if there's a solution, it's great if you let us know here.
