Here's how you could see incoming messages according to platform:
Xbox Console:
Press the Xbox button.
Press the right arrow to navigate over to the Messages tab.
Xbox App on Windows PCs:
Launch the Xbox app.
Sign in using the Microsoft account used for the qualifying purchase.
Expand the Friends list on the screen.
Click on the Chats tab to see incoming messages.
Xbox Profile Online:
Visit Xbox.com.
Sign in using the Microsoft account used for the qualifying purchase.
Click on the Xbox icon in the upper left-hand corner.
Click the Chat bubble.
