How to Play Minecraft Split Screen on 2 Accounts

I have Minecraft, on Gamepass, on an Xbox Series S. I'm set up as the main user and my kids have an account each. They want to play split screen, but can't play as themselves, only on one child account and then a duplicate/guest of that same account, not both on their own accounts. Is it possible to do this? I think they access settings should allow this and they are friends on each others account, but frustratingly, every setting I seem to change doesn't allow them to play as themselves. Thanks

Hey Paul634, how are you today? Hope you're well.

In the “Multiplayer” settings, slide “Multiplayer Game” to the off position. Set the difficulty and other game options to your liking. Choose “Create” or “Play” to launch the game. Use a different controller to activate the second player on the console, then select the correct button(s) to add them to Minecraft.

Thank you very much for your reply. There must be something in the settings, as I can add myself, so I can play with one of the children, but I can't add the two children together. I don't want to allow them access to everything, but do want them to be able to play games together, as their own login. They're allowed content up to 12 years and are allowed Minecraft multiplayer and Realms and to create and follow clubs, in the Xbox Family App. It must be in these settings, but not sure what the magic combination is.

Is basically those:

"You can play with people outside of Xbox Live", "You can create and join clubs", and "You can join multiplayer games".

Thank you very much. I think there must be other settings buried deep in the Microsoft Family Safety App that are causing issues. They can play as a guest for now and as they get older, I'll lift more restrictions, which hopefully resolves the issue. Not a big deal to play like this, but thought it'd be more straightforward. I like the idea of being able to restrict certain settings, but it could be more customisable, to allow exceptions, so you don't have to allow all access to configure certain games as you want to. It must be an age thing, as I can join, on my account. Appreciate your responses though.

I see. You're welcome my friend.

I understand your concern, but try to lift them up, just to test it all, you could reverse back at any time. :)

My girlfriend and I usually play on our own separate consoles, on her world.

But today we tried to play on just her console, as mine was not with us.

We could not play split screen.

She was able to load her world, and the game says to press the start button to join, so we do, asks which account is going to join and we select mine....but nothing happens.

If we select a guest account to join, it immediately allows it in.

But does not allow a 2nd account to split screen.

We tried turning "Multiplayer Game" off to no avail.
