How do I connect my Xbox one to my PC?

I've watched so many videos on how to do this and nothings working my Xbox one is plugged into my windows 10 laptop, they're both on the same wifi, everything has been restarted everything is in the right place I have my IP address and Im typing it in and it says We couldnt find an Xbox one console with that IP address idk what to do at this point, any suggestions?

Hi Deadpool_69,

Are you trying to stream your console to your laptop? If that's the case, you will need the Xbox Console Companion app installed on your laptop and have both devices connected to the same network and running. Log into the Xbox Console Companion app with your main account credentials and you should be able to stream.

Quick Question for you.

You said in your post that your xbox was connected to your laptop?

What do you mean by that? Do you have a network Cat5 cable running between the two?

Some routers have two different networks attached to them.

One network when searching for it will have just the name of your network then the other will have the name of your network and the -5G after it you would want to make sure that both of them are connected to the same network there.

its connected by the HDMI1 lead, I heard about them needing to be under the same network before but I just thought that meant wifi, is the HDMI1 lead right or should I buy something extra? I'll do anything I have to to get this to work, and thank you for the reply and the help

It doesn't need to be connected to your PC at all, so nothing extra should be needed. You would just have it connected to a TV like normal, turn it on, and connect through the app.
