I had internet speeds of 15/1 mbps for about 4 years and about a month ago i upgraded to 30/5 mbps and i noticed no change on my 360. Before it would take me 1.5 to 2 hours to download a 5GB game and now with the internet upgrade it hasnt changed at all. Is their any way to optimize my internet settings? or what to get as much as i can out of my speed

One main simple thing that can give faster speeds is to use a wired connection rather than wireless connection as there is less of a delay. Here is 12 steps on how to maximize the speed of your internet connection www.wikihow.com/Maximize-the-Speed-of-Your-Internet-Connection

Ahoy' there CPT!
Okay, out of curiosity could you please perform a Network Speed Test and post the results (just too see what your speed is, exactly). Following this, This Link may assist you in improving your speed to Xbox LIVE, if required. (It is mainly solutions for users whom disconnect from Xbox LIVE, however the advice it gives is quite helpful and useful in improving the speed).
Some of the basic advice to be given would be that, try a hardwired connection (Ethernet cable from your router, to your console). If that isn't a option, may be try moving your console closer to the router and make sure there is no blockage in between so it has a clear line of connection. Contact your ISP, too see if they can help in improving the speed of your network.
Let us know if this helps. ^_^

Hey CPT. That is some pretty fast internets you got there. To help optimize your speed, I would suggest maximizing your bandwidth by limiting the number of connected devices on your network. I would also suggest using a wired connection as apposed to a wireless.

If your on wireless that is a huge bump lost in speed, but i would recommend that you open up the ports needed for xbox live, change your network channel if you live in a place where there are neighbors that also have internet, changing channel is the key to stable internet on wireless devices, also try increasing your MTU Size on the router, when opening your ports make a static ip address for your xbox or else port forwarding will not work, also try changing your router mode, typically it will be on Auto, try switching it to 54g Performance if the option is there. i hope this information is of good use to you and others thank you.

ive already said my xbox is NOT on wireless. All ports were opened a long time ago using portforward.com. no need to change my internet channel cause it not on wireless and even if it was i would connect it to my 5G connection not the 2.4G like hones use. i am already aware about signals so i have my computer and my xbox (when i use wireless) on the 5G connection (my router sends out both 5G and 2.4G signals)

CPT- Did you ever resolve this problem? I am running into the almost same issues that you were. I am just starting out in this mess(haven't opened any ports yet). When I do a speed test on my laptop, I get 29-31 down. I did a speed test on the Xbox and got 1.5 down on a wired connection. thank you for any help!

I am getting this same thing, my pc gets 46 down, and my xbox only gets 3.5 down, both are wired directly. there must be a way to optimize it.
