Game pass for PC save location

New user of Game pass pc here. I have a couple of questions:

After installing some games, I cant enter the directory of the game files, nor anything and I want to know how to backup the saves locally on my computer. Is it possible?

For example if I play Guacamelee 2 on the game pass, and buy it on another platform like steam, can i tranfer the save file to steam? Or is only located on the microsoft cloud?

And I cant install the xbox beta for the game pass app on my Windows 10 pc. Is required to be a Windows Insider?

Hi CoinFlyer98353,

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums. I'd be happy to help.

By default your games will save on the C: drive and the common location of saved games is C:\Users\NAME\Saved Games\GAME. Once you find the folder you can backup the files to another storage device.

The games you play will create a saved folder for data locally but depending on where you bought the game, the cloud storage will also kick in. I know for Steam you have to check the game and make sure it has a cloud icon to know it supports it.

You should be able to move the files from your user files in the C: drive if you played from Game pass, you just would need to locate the game's folder in the Program files section of your C: drive, which is where Steam installs by default.

You don't need to be an Windows Insider to install the Xbox Game Pass for PC (Beta) app. It requires Windows 10 (latest update) and the Xbox (beta) app. What is the error you are getting when trying to install?

Best Wishes,
Diego

I also seem to be having this problem, as I need to change some stuff manually involving resolution scaling in the config file, but I cannot do it as the Metro Exodus folder is missing entirely.

I can't find the save files either, I want to migrate my saves from my Epic "Metro Exodus" purchase to my microsoft file. But like you guys I can't locate any files for the game. The resolution in the game for metro on the Xbox (beta) app is also weird and broken.

Microsoft, please help out on these issues.

Go to steam, click on properties under the game to locate the save file.

Then move the file to the destination under the game pass.

Also in this directory / F:\WindowsApps / Im seeing 2 folders of the same size, totalling 100gbs, the game install was 54gbs or so, did the xbox app store 2 installs of this game in this folder? If so why? It's eating lots of storage space.

Yup, having exactly the same issue. Managed to find the game files in the appdata folder, and also tried searching for the saves in the user/AppData folder, but no luck.

Would really love to continue playing on the Xbox app (and get rid of Epic games), but sadly, the ability to not copy the save files is messing with this :(

I can't find the directory either and my saved game files are gone as the game (Metro Exodus) doesn't allow the Continue option

Try launching the game from start menu, > right click on metro exodus> run as administrator, this worked for me.
