Elite Series 2 controller Bluetooth issue

I have a new Elite Series 2 Controller, and having issues with Bluetooth that randomly disconnects.

I can reproduce it by lauching WRC 8, at some point in the menu or in a race, the controller will get disconnected after a big stutter, and sometimes, it never reconnects (light is blinking on the controller, Windows says the controller is paired but will never see it connected even after restarting the controller, in this case, I have to remove the controller from Bluetooth device list and pair again).

The controller firmware is up to date, Windows 10 64 bits is up to date, the Bluetooth driver from my Z390 motherboard with Intel Bluetooth controller is up to date.

I have a regular Bluetooth XBox One X controller that works perfectly on the same host.

Also, we are multiple people to have the exact same issue:

Hi vinz357,

sorry to hear. But if a controller doesn't work the way it should work for me, I assume it's broken and send it back. Maybe you should do that.

Hope this helps and please keep us informed

Same issue here, I have a motherboard with the Z390 chipset.  I'm also getting the same random disconnects after a stutter.

I've tried 3 different Bluetooth drivers and reinstalled the OS to no avail. It's still disconnecting at random. Currently I'm running the series 2 via USB cable for now.

Hopefully Microsoft will resolve this issue soon.

Given the various reports, it looks like this is not an hardware issue but a software one.

I also assume it's broken, and it needs software fixes.

I've reached the support and have a case for this issue.

Also linking Reddit megathread, not easy to navigate but looking for the term 'bluetooth' pops out the same issues:

As additional information, I tested another bluetooth controller (DG40SA) and got the same disconnection issue.

Now have to wait for the fix.

The Bluetooth definitely needs a firmware update, but until then just go hard wired :-)  If you return it to Microsoft - you'll prolly get another controller with the same issue...
