Help.    severe lag

You can try the Google DNS servers.  For IPv4: 8.8.8.8 and/or 8.8.4.4. For IPv6: 2001:4860:4860::8888 and/or 2001:4860:4860::8844.

best thing for you to do is reset your router to factory default and start a fresh connection to your console. severe lag can be caused by a number of things including other house hold items such as tvs microwaves baby monitores, make sure your router is placed in a good spot, use a wired connection if available for best results. you can also speak to your isp to help set a static ip which helped me with my lag, you can purchase powerline adapters that plug into your main socket allowing you to play via a wired connection if your routers too far from your device, if you are already using them try turning them off at both ends and rebooting them as sometimes they lose their steady connection, it doesnt happen alot but it does happen.

also please try clearing your alternate mac address on your console.  network settings-advanced-alternate mac-clear

Or Cloudflare's DNS at 1.1.1.1

However, be aware that DNS it not responsible for lag on it's own.

It's like drinving a sports car to some destination, and asking Google, Cloudflare or your ISP's DNS for the address of your destination, but the actual drive to the destination doesn't matter if Google, Cloudflate or your ISP differed in giving you the address to where you need to go.

The actual routing through the Internet, congestion and other factors impact lag much more than your DNS settings.

Resetting your router to factory settings should be the last resort especially if you have a number of customized changes to the configuration.

The OP didn’t mention anything other than the inquiry about different DNS servers.

Agreed with the other comments on this.. DNS isn't going to really affect 'lag' during game play.

AS Parity stated, I wouldn't factory reset your router unless you have no other choice.

Usually power cycling your modem can assist with many issues, including Lag.  Never forget, your ISP may be having issues as well, never hurts to call them.

You are chasing a ghost. The DNS servers provided by your ISP are probably adequate.

Please try these but for multi-player try to make sure your NAT is open

Personally I use Norton DNS servers for speed and security.  But like everyone mentioned that DNS has nothing to do with lag. Ensure you are getting the speed that your internet provider says. You can try wifi boosters etc but ensure what the problem is before you go tinkering around with settings you might not be familiar with.

1.1.1.1 is fast DNS

8.8.8.8 is google

use those two for some pretty reliable and quick results.
