Controller button not working for Minecraft

We understand the inconvenience caused. We will be glad to assist you with this. To better understand it correctly, your controller button will not work on Minecraft. As per description, you have tried uninstalling the game, multiple hard resets, and even deleted some old data but still the problem persists. Let us check on this together and sort this out to assist your concern.

For us to provide accurate resolution, we would like to ask more details about it. Kindly provide to us the following information below.

1. Is this happening on Minecraft only?

2. When did the issue started?

3. Have you updated the controller and your device recently?

4. Check if the in-game button mapping was not change by accident.

For the meantime allow us to recommend the basic troubleshooting to check if this a controller issue seeing it works fine when using it outside of Minecraft. If you already tried the power cycle mentioned above by Parity, then you will need to try out a soft factory reset.

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

2. Select System > Settings > System > Console info.

3. Select Reset console. 

Make sure to select "Keep my games & apps" and have your account login information plus your WIFI password ready if you connect wireless because you will need to re-add the account's that were on the Xbox and re-connect to your network during the reset.

Same thing here,It only happens on minecraft ive went in and out of the game, ive reinstalled it and ive resetted my xbox ive tried different controllers nothing works

My controller is doing the same thing. I have restarted it, reinstalled it, and hard reset. It is only giving me issues on minecraft. Is this a minecraft issue?

think it is a minecraft issue it just wont work at all for me so irritating extremely dissapointed

The same thing is happening for me, I’ve found that if you have a keyboard hooked up that you can use that and presumably a mouse to maneuver, however it still doesn’t work when you join a world. I’ve tried unplugging my keyboard countless times as well, as of right now there seems to be mow definite answer to this.

Is there a fix for this issue? My son is trying to play Minecraft but cannot as the A button has stopped working only when he is on Minecraft. We have tried hard resets and re-installing the game but still the issue persists please can someone at Microsoft or Minangkabau give an update

Still isn’t working. I would appreciate if they could figure out a solution. Controller isn’t responding to anything on Minecraft, but it’s working on literally ALL other games.

Brian, are you using a wireless headset with a usb dongle in the console? I found that by removing the dongle whilst loading in to the game fixed the issue. Once in the game and loaded into a world it can be put back into the console. It seems the game thinks the dongle is a controller and moves the actual controller to player 2 which confuses the system rendering the controller useless.

Hello. First of all, I want to say that I'm not an expert person in this regard. You can try to solve the issue by updating the Xbox controller. If you can't, try to follow the method mentioned here. This is not an accurate solution for this issue actually. I just only suggested updating the controller. I hope you will be benefitted.
