Can only play Minecraft Demo after Migrating Mojang Account

I successfully migrated my Mojang account to a Microsoft account and have the migration confirmation email as proof. However, when I open the minecraft launcher, it says I don't own Minecraft Java Edition and that I can only play the Demo. I've owned Minecraft Java Edition before the migration and therefore, I should be able to play Minecraft after the migration.

When I sign in to the minecraft launcher with the microsoft account that this confirmation email was sent to, it only says I can play the Mincraft demoI've seen many different users with the same issue and there have been no reasonable fixes to this issue. It would be greatly appreciated if a fix could be found especially since I want to be able to play Minecraft.

Hello dear Gamer, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

Hey Bugky, how are you today? Hope you're well.

Bugky, Log out of the Launcher. Log in with your new Microsoft account, not your old Mojang account. Note carefully the labels on the login form.

Also, try to reinstall the launcher.

Hi Vinicius, thank you so much for the reply! However, if you can see the screenshot of the Minecraft launcher, it says I'm logged in my Microsoft account in the top left. I have tried reinstalling the launcher multiple times without success and have ensured that I have logged in the microsoft account that I used to migrate my mojang account with. Could the problem be with the microsoft email address I migrated the mojang account to being the exact same as a yahoo email address (the confirmation email was sent to the yahoo email, not the microsoft one)? Is the confirmation email supposed to be sent to the microsoft account? If this is the case, is there something else I can do and any other suggested fixes I could try?

But when you migrate, do you choose a Yahoo account instead of a Microsoft one?

Hi Vinicius, yeh I definitely used a Microsoft account to migrate, not a Yahoo email but I think the problem might be logging in with the wrong Microsoft account (I'm pretty sure I used the right Microsoft account but it could have been a different one)? I think I'll contact Microsoft support, but thanks for responding so quickly! Have a nice day!

You're welcome Bugky.

But just answering your question, an issue could be happening with the migration process. It happens to other users as well. But first, you need to make sure you migrate to the right account. :)

Needing any further help, count on me, my friend.

Wish you a great day and a happy new year to you and your family.

Me too. I wasn't able to migrate in time, because work is a big part of my life. I can't even see my old mojang account that is usually in the 'Go back' tab anymore. So even if i wanted to Migrate, i am unable to do so.

@L4c3rd4
Vinicius
This is an issue with the latest launcher update. Nothing else.

I had the same issue start with me yesterday. Talking with other users via discord it seems some people have the issue for a few hours, then it clears, only to come back a couple of days later.

I know its the launcher because it was suggested I try a 3rd party launcher (Lunar) and I can connect just fine with that. I suggest that other people try it until MS and MJ get their act together.

I was very wary about using a 3rd party launcher but I have friends who used it for ages with no problems so I did a system backup (just in case) and tried it.

You'll spend half an hour or more trying to figure it out, and turning off all the dozens of 'bling' options but it does work reliably.

Mojang and Microsoft are kicking this issue back and forth, and seem to be denying its the launcher.

Contacted Microsoft and after explaining the problem the lady said she'd need to ask someone. 7 mins later they cut me off.

That is so weird! Luckily I was able to get it to work on my newer computer that runs microsoft and windows 10 in general. My sister also shared a Minecraft account with me but her computer doesn’t run windows 10, hopefully there’s some way to fix it so she can play on her computer as well.
