Can I mod my Xbox(Beta) games on pc?

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums.

Unfortunately, you cannot mod or configure the game files of games downloaded through the Microsoft Store. The files themselves are locked from any kind of configurations. If the game has a specific language available, then it should download in that language based on the language you have set in Windows and the Microsoft Store. Most developers will include language options in the game settings, but that is up to the developer to include those options.

I was under the impression that mods are open if the developer allows from seeing another post I commented on the other day but I see a moderator in here has said you can't. 

Pity if you can't as that will push me back to Steam.

Sadly as someone else said modding is not really possible with games obtained with GamePass PC (at least for NOW, read the last paragraph). It's due to the way the games are "packaged"/installed. Even with games on GamePass PC that are not UWP modding is still not possible because the game folders are EXTREMELY locked down. You can't even simply look at a games install folder for gamepass PC games. Just like if you buy any apps/games from MS Store, all GamePass PC games are delivered through the MS store BTW, the new beta Xbox app is just a front end / new UI but when you hit download it starts downloading from the MS store.

However there is some hope for the future. Microsoft is laying groundwork to make traditional modding of GamePass/MS Store games possible. It's already documented in their developer stuff. So it's something they know people want and are working on making possible, so not today but I def expect to see GamePass PC / MS Store games get traditional modding support (where you can download mods from the nexus, replace game files etc) in the future.
