Asus VG278Q Monitor not outputting 120hz on Xbox Series X

Hello,

I am dumbfounded with what to do about this problem. My monitor, the ASUS VG278Q does not seem to output 120hz on my Xbox Series X, even though I'm pretty sure it supports 120hz over HDMI, as that's what it says in the manual. Is this an Xbox problem? If so, is this a known issue and is there a fix on the way? It's very annoying to not be able to take advantage of this, when I know my monitor can. Thanks!

I have the same monitor and I’m having the exact same issue. The display port handles 120Hz but the HDMI does not. I’ve read only that the HDMI port does not handle 120Hz but i find that hard to believe. Might reach out directly to Asus to confirm.

I figured it out. In display settings, if you change from auto-detect to hdmi, then change your resolution to 1080p, it gives you the option to change the refresh rate to 120hz.

Absolute life saver! Been stressing for hours over this.

Is there any way on enabling ELMB or is this a computer only setting?

I think it might be a computer only setting since I haven't been able to figure that one out either.

Question, if you leave it on auto detect, but check the allow variable refresh rate option, will it be able to output 120 hz at all?

I have both a 4k TV and this monitor and use a switch back and forth. Currently,I have to go into setting each time and change the video modes to have the TV emit at 4K but the monitor to go through HDMI to get to 120. Is this the only option?

When i do this and change to 120hz, my screen turns blue, says no signal, then the monitor turns back on and the refresh rate is back at 60hz
