Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter Stuck On Mute

I have been using my stereo headset adapter for months now without a problem until I turned on my controller this morning and now the adapter is stuck on mute and will not produce sound through a headset. Even when no headset is plugged in the orange mute light on the adapter is stuck on. When a headset is plugged in I am using the official Xbox stereo headset.

Things i tried so far:

-Update the controller (It tells me my controller is already up to date and does nothing)

-Hard reset the Xbox one

-Manually unplugged Xbox console and waited for over a minute before restarting

-Turned on energy saving mode and cleared my MAC address

-Changed batteries

-Unplugged batteries and connected using just a USB cable

-Reset the Xbox to factory settings

-Cleaned the controller ports and Adapter

I do not have another controller so trying the adapter on a different controller is not an option.

Ok, it sounds like you bought the adapter that will allow you to use other stereo headsets.  It also looks like you tried a lot of steps to solve the problem.  However, have you tried unplugging the adapter from the controller, waiting a couple of minutes and then plugging it back in?

If so, then perhaps you should see about setting up a repair/replacement.

hey i just had this happen to me. To fix it go to settings>devices & accessories>click on your Xbox one wireless controller>click on "no update available>plug in your mic and plug in your controller to the side usb slot then wait. Hopped this worked
